After several descending stairways, corridors, and vestibules, one reaches
a large rectangular hall, supported by 6 pillars, on which the pharaoh
appears in the presence of various gods. The texts of the Book of Amduat are painted on the walls of the six pillar hall. Written in vertical columns, these cursive hierogylphs are painted only, not engraved in bas relief, as if the walls were mural papyrus. The sarcophagus of red quartzite contained the pharaoh's intact mummy when Victor Loret discovered the timmb in 1898. It was in the burial chamber, adjacent to the six-pillar hall.
